Dr. Solano has served the Rays since 2021, and Dr. Zusman has also served the Charlotte Stone Crabs and the Texas Rangers during spring training.

Are you accepting new patients?

What's the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor (M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in the eyes: exams, diagnosing and treating eye disease, and eye surgery. An optometrist (O.D.) is a doctor of optometry who provides eye exams, prescribes glasses and contact lenses, and treats many eye conditions. Both of our doctors are board-certified ophthalmologists.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept Medicare and select Medicare Advantage PPO and commercial PPO plans, including Cigna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and TRICARE. We are an out-of-network provider for AARP, Aetna and Humana Medicare PPO plans. We don't accept HMO plans or vision plans. If your plan isn't listed in the form, a comprehensive eye exam is $270 self-pay.

Do you take vision plans like VSP or EyeMed?

No. We accept medical insurance only, not vision plans. You're welcome to visit as a self-pay patient: a comprehensive eye exam is $270.

I live in Punta Gorda, North Port or Englewood. Is that close?

Patients come to our Port Charlotte office from across Charlotte County and nearby towns, including Punta Gorda, North Port, Englewood, Venice and Arcadia. We're in the Harbor Professional Centre at 3430 Tamiami Trail, Ste. A.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your insurance cards, photo ID, a list of medications, your current glasses or contacts and sunglasses. Your eyes will likely be dilated, so please arrange a driver. Plan on 1 to 2 hours.

Can I get glasses or contacts at your office?

Yes. Our in-house optical carries eyeglass frames and most major brands of contact lenses.

Do you have Spanish-speaking staff?

What if I'm having a vision emergency?

Sudden vision loss, a curtain or shadow over your vision, or a new shower of floaters and flashes needs prompt attention. Call us right away at (941) 624-4500. After hours, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
